About Teresa

Teresa Moralez graduated from the University of Texas @ Tyler. As an Iowa Arts Fellow, she received her MFA in Printmaking and Intermedia from the University of Iowa in 2011. During graduate school, Teresa had her first child which initiated her exploration in concepts of motherhood and the cultural fascination of the over-sexualized female body. Teresa explores notions of ethical-earth-practice within her daily life. Her work embodies the personal experiences she encounters as a woman, mother, and wife, and how these experiences are reflections of larger social and historical circumstances and issues. She often references traditional concepts and their relationship to contemporary patterns. Teresa’s work assimilates didactic structures as a means of creating awareness to the repercussion and cultural dis-ease from challenging authority, or the lack thereof.
